When I was a kid whenever I used to buy a new dress or for that matter anything I used to constantly think of zillion ways to style it. Well my shopping spree in ZARA few months back resulted in a ZARA hangover and being that kid again. Whenever I reach out to my wardrobe all I can think of is how I am going to style my black skirt and peach blazer today! In my defense the ZARA black skirt definitely makes me look slimmer and peach color is so chic, fashionable and pleasant. Well, I believe in reusing all my outfits in my closet to the fullest and styling it differently each day. Let's face it what's the point of having a dress and wearing it just once? The challenge remains in styling it differently every time to make it look like a new dress each day :)

As I said in my previous animal prints are in this season. Leopard print is so versatile. Let's face it, it goes with every color available on this planet (Mustard, yellow, red, orange, peach, purple, green.. yup the list is endless). It's part of important ingredient for a classic wardrobe too. This week's styling is very simple. I styled my black skirt with leopard dress (worn as top), peach blazer. Completed the look with Mary Jane Stilettos, Aldo rose gold watch, Firmoo cat eye sunglasses, Celine inspired handbag and key ring.

Andy Roddick retired from International tennis. I am a huge tennis fanatic. In his farewell speech he said that the game was never better (the most enjoyable) when he was a 13 year old playing because he loved the sport, and now it's all about money and rankings. Well it struck a chord with me. I have got "advice" from several people to make blog into a full-time profession. Well the answer to it is "NO". I blog not to make money, fame or anything for that matter. I blog because it's my greatest stress buster and passion. The moment it becomes a profession I won't enjoy it like I do now. Of late I feel the pressure to constantly keep blogging and has resulted in my health condition to deteriorate. I am constantly sitting in front of the computer for 18 hours in a day. I want to feel like the 13 year old again when the blog is all about fun and joy. So I am taking a break for few weeks from outfit posts. I will be back soon. Until then please do relish on the older-posts. I will be active on facebook and my emails. Please feel free to drop an email any time.

Check out my other stylings with the same skirt and blazer.

Do let me know which styling you like the most. :) Looking forward for your emails/comments about the styling.

Bold Neon and Royal Blue.

Hello Everyone.

Royal blue seems to be the color for this fall along with burgundy. This week's post is about pleats, neon and color blocking.

I am wearing..

Neon Shirt - Vero Moda
Royal blue Pleated skirt - courtesy American Apparel (BUY HERE)
Belt - Lifestyle (Cost Rs.200)
Heels - ZARA INDIA (Bought it during ZARA Sale for Rs.1700)
Bag - Crunchyfashion
Sunglasses - Courtesy Firmoo.com [BUY HERE]
ALDO Rose Gold Watch - courtesy Majorbrands.in [BUY HERE]
Rings - Stilettos Diary Shop.

Accordion Pleats usually reminds me of school girl skirt, though in our school days the pleats were much wider. This season pleated skirt's image has been transformed from its ancient school girl image to a fun flirty every day, every age outfit. Socialites like Olivia, Kate Bosworth have rocked the pleated skirt in the red carpet. From metallic gold to royal blue American Apparel offers many rare color pleated skirt. For me American Apparel is a colored heaven. The rich color and textures fascinate me. Check out American Apparel and you will feel the same way I do "Megha in Wonderland"(An unoriginal, plagiarized adaptation of Alice in Wonderland).

How to style Pleated Skirt?

1. Pleated skirt can be paired with almost every trend this season, whether it be worn with a print top, colour block, white-on-white or neutrals.
2. Style with a blazer to work. For a casual day a simple t-shirt and oxfords.
3. A sheer shirt, wedges and pleated skirt with statement gold accessories is a perfect outfit for the night.

Hope these tips will help you rock pleated skirt.

Peachy Mint.

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are having a great week. This week post is about pastel colors. Peach and mint are my all time favorite color combination.

I am wearing..

Mint floral print dress - Courtesy of Seekers of Style [ BUY HERE!]
Peach Blazer - ZARA India (Bought during ZARA Sale for 50% off. It cost Rs.1990)
Belt - MAX Commerical Street.
Gossip Girl Inspired Bag - Stilettos Diary Shop [BUY HERE!]
Beige Heels - Portia (Bought from 99labels for 80% off for Rs.500)
Peach Earrings - Vero Moda (Bought during Buy one get two free sale)
ALDO Rose Gold Watch - courtesy Majorbrands.in [BUY HERE]
On my lips - Maybelline Watershine Pure
On my nails - Maybelline Colorama
On my eyes - Bourjois Paris Eyeliner.

Firstly I would like to apologise to Seekers of style for the very late review. Summer is almost coming to an end and the monsoon is upon us. This mint floral dress is perfect dress for the summer. Nevertheless with a simpler blazer and right accessories you can convert it into an outfit for the rainy season. I have to mention the fit of the dress is just perfect. It actually makes me look slimmer.

I combined the mint dress with peach blazer. I added a bit of color with red bag and belt. Peach and red is one of my favorite color combination as well. I love how silky smooth peach and fierce red compliment each other. Completed the look with statement earrings (which are trending right now), ALDO rose gold watch and beige high heels. I got bored with my usual eye makeup so decided to go for a bit of drama. Do you like it? Do let me know what you think of the styling. I will wait for all your comments.

Finding our passion and following in the footsteps of what we love is something we all dream of doing. I am an IT Engineer, the cliche associated with "our kind" is we have very little interest in fashion and very seriously frustrated people on planet. Sounds very lame, but not all of it is true. All I want to say is, there is no demarcation, it doesn't matter what field you come for, if you have a passion, then pursue it. Life is too short to wonder. My dream was to do something in the field of fashion though I don't have any formal degree. What I know about fashion is self-taught through internet, international fashion blogs, watching shows. Journey is no bed of roses, I faced a lot of criticism, lack of support during the initial days I started the blog. I come from a stereotypical South Indian family who thinks fashion field is not for us. I did not listen to anyone and pursued my ambition, my dream and my passion. All I am trying to say is if you have a dream pursue it. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks. It is your life and make choices best for you.

The reason I told this long story is Nikita Varma came from a business background, but her passion for fashion drove her from corporate world to New York City to pursue fashion at the prestigious Parsons School of Design. Besides her formal training at Parsons. She has apprenticed and worked with designers and brands like Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg, Luca Luca, Vera Wang, Bulgari and Donna Ricco.

Nikita branched out as an Independent designer, and launched her eponymous label ‘NIKITTA’, a high-end ready-to-wear contemporary designer label and ‘NIKITTA PrĂȘt’ a diffusion line, in the year 2011. Her recent collection was showcased at the Bangalore Fashion Week, 2012.

Every NIKITTA creation embodies fashion and art in a harmonious combination and balance that brings forth modern and innovative designs that express the designer's sensibilities in her own unique language. The label emphasizes perfect fit and sizing, impeccable construction and finish of garments. It also experiments with different and new fabrications, construction techniques, draping and pattern constructions. The label strives to study different body shapes and bring forth designs that enhance the beauty and confidence of the wearer. NIKITTA endeavors to exemplify affordable luxury at its best.

I caught up with Nikita and she agreed to do an exclusive interview for Stilettos Diary. This is what she had to say.

1. From where do you get your inspiration, can you share how you interpret them into your lovely design?

For me designing is a natural process of expressing my creativity and what I am feeling at the moment. Inspirations appear in various forms like a visual or a thought, mood or an idea. Having said that, when designing I do keep in mind the season or the occasion I am designing for and my collections emerge from a combination of inspirations and the seasonal requirements in terms of the right fabrications, colors and cuts.

2. When you create something, what goes through your mind?

When designing, I am conscious that every design I create reflects my design sensibilities andaesthetics truly. I also create keeping in mind that my designs are not only unique in style but they are also wearable, and they can compliment a variety of body types. I place special focus on technical finesse, fit, quality andfinish of my creations.

3.In your earlier years, how did you decide that you eventually wanted to become a designer?

I grew up as an artist, and I always loved painting, sketching and creating my own designs andpatterns. The process of becoming a designer was a natural progression. I loved beautiful clothes and fashion and I took to designing and putting together my own wardrobe and I usually received a lot of appreciation for my personal style. I started designing for others on request as a hobby, and then went onto getting recognized for my designing talents at national and international platforms. This eventually led me to pursue designing as a serious profession and a passion I love.

4. How do you intend women to feelwhen wearing your labeled clothing?

I want women to feel beautiful, sexy, smart, confident and comfortable when wearing my label. My label strives to enhance the beauty of the wearer and increase their quotient of glamour and style.

5.What do you have to say to the next generation, particularly for thosehoping to follow in your footsteps? For anyone who wants to take up designing as a profession, I would advise them to be prepared for immense hardwork, focus, perseverance and a never give-up attitude. There are no shortcuts, and ones talent should be enhanced by pursuing proper technical and design courses at good fashion schools followed by apprenticeship under established designers to learn theropes and trade. But, as difficult as it sounds, Fashion is not all work and no play! All the toil will actually seem effortless and immensely enjoyable and fun if one has the passion and love for creating something new everyday.
