Mirrored Stripes

Hello Everyone!

January is a month of sales. I managed to click photos on one of my sale shopping spree. The location was divine, with a lot of reflection which gave me this idea of the post: Mirrored Stripes.

I am wearing...

Stripe dress - Courtesy Zovi.com (Looks like it's sold out but shirt is available here)
Blazer - Gift (Similar available here and here)
Heels - Courtesy Oasap.com (Buy here)
Sling Bag - Tibetan Plaza - Brigade Road (Paid Rs.320)
Sunglasses - Aldo (Seen in many posts. Paid Rs. 700 for two sunglasses during buy one get one free offer)
Leather Belt - Vero Moda (Sale Haul, Paid Rs. 340 during 50% Sale)
ALDO Rose Gold Watch - courtesy Majorbrands.in (Buy here) Cuff and Ring - Stilettos Diary shop
On my nails - Salmon, Pink - Faces, Yellow - Maybelline Colorama

Recently I picked this dress from Zovi.com to an event organized by Zovi.com. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the event, but this dress turned out to be my favorite dress of all time. Firstly, the vibrant stripes make it a wardrobe staple. Secondly, the dress is super light, soft like feathers and moreover it makes you look slimmer. I was actually surprised by the amazing quality. The dress is 100% polyester and not cotton and it is priced just Rs.699. Zovi.com has become my favorite shop to pick wardrobe basics. Not only it provides quality clothing, but also the items is budget friendly. The dress seems to be sold out, but a similar top is available at Rs.599 (buy here). Pick it up before it gets sold out. Trust me it's one worthy investment.

I styled the stripe dress with vibrant tomato red blazer which matches one of the stripes of the dress. Black leather belt to cover the string of the dress, nude sling bag and vibrant nails, accessories completed the look. Hardly any make up because when I go sale shopping I don't like spoiling the dress with lipstick stains or anything. The oasap heels are the most comfortable pair since it is platform heels. Even though it is a 5 inch heels, the platform heels makes me feel as if I am just wearing 1 inch heel. Experiment with nail color, you will be shocked how much it adds finishing touch to the entire outfit.

P.S. Thanks to Prasoon Agarwal for the amazing photographs. Photos edited by Me and Prasoon Agarwal. I think I went overboard with the mirror effects.

P.P.S New lookbook page is now online. Just click on the link, it will redirect you to the post. Thanks to my friend Sriram for coding the page.

Dots and Fur.

Hello Everyone!

Another closet Remix special. You have seen me layer polka dot shirt with blue shirt, print mixing with stripes skirt, now a fall styling with polka dot shirt. The whole point of the remix is to find treasures in your own wardrobe and realize the potential. We girls are never ever satisfied with our wardrobe. Well I feel, we should treasure what we have in our closet and utilize it. It's cool to repeat clothes and bring out your creativity by styling same shirt differently to match your mood and season.

I am wearing..

Polka dot shirt - Commercial Street (Old, as seen in many posts, cost Rs.480)
Necklace, Nail Ring, Flying Bird Ring,Cuffs - Stilettos Diary Shop
ALDO Rose Gold Watch - courtesy Majorbrands.in [BUY HERE]
Boots - Courtesy Oasap.com [BUY HERE]
Sunglasses - Aldo (Bought during sale, as seen in many posts, cost Rs.350)
Fur Vest - courtesy - Romwe.com [BUY HERE]
Bat shaped Bag - courtesy Oasap [BUY HERE]
On my lips - Maybelline Watershine Pure
On my nails - Maybelline Colorama

I was invited to attend the Orion Fashion Week last month. It was arranged at the lakeside and the event started around 6 o' clock in the evening and went on until 10 o' clock in the night. It gets very cold post 8 o' clock in Bangalore and since it was by the pool side I decided to add layers to my outfit and yet look fashionable. I was excited to attend the event because I finally got the chance to style my fur vest. (I know right?? Of all the reasons to get excited about! What can I say I just love experimenting). Bangalore's weather has changed completely. Its super hot and this time I never felt we had winter in Bangalore! So I ceased the opportunity to style this beautiful fur vest I scored from Romwe.com.

Black, White and gold is my the eternal favorite combination. I added a Cleopatra collar necklace and cuffs to add bling to the outfit. Of late I am obsessed with nail rings.Added a nail ring to complete the look.

Let me know what you think about the styling. Few snaps from Orion Fashion week 2012.

Stilettos Diary for Fastrack India.

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend. As I told you, December was quite an eventful month. My friend Shreya and I had a great blast attending few events. One of the event I attended was launch of Fastrack new collection at Fbar.

I am wearing...

Fastrack sunglasses - courtesy Fastrack
Outfit details - Floral and Leopard post (Click Here)

I am extremely selective about the events I go to. Don't get me wrong, after slogging out at work during weekdays, working on the blog after coming back home, shooting for blog posts on weekend, I hardly get time for myself. I get many invite for parties, collaborations, launches to cover events, which I simply refuse. My idea of unwinding is watching a good movie and popcorn alone. I usually get bored in parties or I am just allergic to loud music. But Fastrack is one brand I feel at home. I always loved Fastrack as a brand and the collections it offers since my college days. This is one of those events I completely enjoyed and had a great time.

Recently Fastrack launched its new collection at Fbar with a fashion show choreographed by Prasad Bidapa. The collection echoed vibrant colors, stripes and military detailing. The new collection is affordable and adds required oomph to every day outfit. From backpacks, sling bags to travel bags, this time Fastrack offered a variety of options not only for college goers, but also to working men and women. In short, the collection painted the loud and whimsical demure Fastrack stands for.

I am a huge fan of Fastrack sunglasses (remember my green aviators?). When Fastrack sent me these two lovely sunglasses knowing my love for aviators and cat eye sunglasses I couldn't contain my excitement. Sometimes when you go shopping you have karmic connections with a certain item which just defines your taste, well I had that moment with these yellow aviators. Stylish, chic just transforms the look of any outfit. Cat eye sunglasses are here to stay and I loved the brown whimsical touch offered by Fastrack. Well, after seeing this what are you waiting for? Go check out the new collection.

P.S. Thanks Shreya and Dhatri for the photos and last photo is the outfit I wore for the event. Of late I am obsessed with Instagram. I have been sharing my daily outfits, new accessories and more.Follow me on Instagram for daily outfit ideas and accessories overload!

Balmain Effect - Black and White.

Hello Everyone!

Greatest thing that could ever happen was Oliver Rousteing joining as the designer at Balmain. His work is beacon of art, glamour and class. Inspired by his runway spring and Resort collection, I put together this week's outfit. That's right, make every day your personal runway in budget is the theme of today's blog post.

I am wearing...

Polka dot shirt - Commercial Street (Old, as seen in many posts, cost Rs.480)
Stripes skirt - courtesy American Apparel [BUY HERE]
Bag - Similar available at Lifestyle for Rs.1299
Zebra Print Heels - Metro (Old, as seen in many posts,Cost me Rs.700 during 50% sale)
Chain - Courtesy Oasap.com [BUY HERE]
Sunglasses - Courtesy Firmoo.com [BUY HERE]
Rhombus ring, Skull ring - Stilettos Diary Shop
ALDO Rose Gold Watch - courtesy Majorbrands.in [BUY HERE]
Belt - MAX Commerical Street (Old, as seen in many posts, cost Rs. 250)
On my lips - Maybelline Watershine Pure
On my nails - Maybelline Colorama

Alright, I have been blabbing about Balmain collection. Here's sneak peek of the collection as seen this season.

As you can see, a lot of print mixing and pastels dominated his collection. So decided to put together a print on print on print outfit inspired by his amazing work. I would any day wear almost all of his outfit. The collection is just awesome but I don't believe in spending a bomb! Most of the time I check out the runway shows and think of wearable trends I can incorporate into my outfits which flatter my body shape and size.

I paired my polka dot shirt with stripes skirt and zebra print kitten heels. I paired a similar zebra print necklace matching my heels. Completed the look with a bit my style by adding red belt, yellow nail polish and messenger bag (I love oversized belts, perfect to hide the flab. Cat- eye sunglasses are here to stay. To match the mood and theme of the outfit, I added contrast black and white cat eye sunglasses. Voila! Runway inspired outfit which you can actually wear every day and still not look overdressed.

A short blog post today, a welcome change from heavy dosed outfit posts. I will not ramble more. Do let me know what you think of the styling and of course what you would love to see more on the blog.

Shopping tip: Now that sales everywhere, if you don't have stripes in your wardrobe, I think it is going to be the best investment this season along with a pair of silver heels. Silver will make a huge comeback this season.

P.S. I did iron this top, but apparently me and ironing clothes don't go in the same sentence. I keep running around and meddling with my shirt so much ultimately it looks not ironed.

I recently did a segment for Udaya TV about trends of 2013. It got me thinking, why not start the new year with a post about trends we can expect in spring 2013, how to incorporate the trend seen in the runway every day on budget while recycling your existing wardrobe!

1. Bermuda Shorts : Yup, these are coming back. Peter Som, Rag & Bone, DKNY ramped up the fashion show with printed, suited twist to bermuda shorts. I couldn't be happier, bermuda shorts are super comfortable and my favorite.

2. Black and White : Black and white combination made a strong presence in spring 2013 runaway. Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs added their own twist in the form of prints. This a trend that screams to be worn among all ages. Time to take out all the black and white outfits : polka dot, stripes, hound-sooth from your wardrobe.

3. Statement Sunglasses : They are back, after cat eye sunglasses revolution designers Anna Sui, Phillip Lim, Diane von Furstenberg brought muted and vibrant statement sunglasses on the ramp.

4. Bold Stripes : I love stripes, forget spring, it looks good any day. Designers Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs did all of us a favor and brought bold stripes trend back.

5. Leather : This trend will continue, minimalistic shapes, rich colors such as grey, burgundy and teal marked the return of luxe leather for spring 2013.

6. Beading : Last year, Karl Lagerfield (Chanel) took inspiration from India. Designers Oscar de la Renta, Altuzarra, Marchesa added their own twist bringing back beads inspired evening wear.

7. Shorts Suits : Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Helmut Lang did all of us a favor and got Short suit back. Vertical stripe, floral and jacquard short suits marked the return of this trend.

8. Sporty Dresses : After the sneaker revolution by Isabel Marant, leave it to Victoria Beckham to bring back a trend which requires to hit the gym hard! Sporty dresses with flirty A-line skirts and shoulder-showcasing bodices embarked her forecast for spring 2013. My entire childhood, I spent of my time wearing this trend while playing tennis. This is one trend I am skipping this season. But for all the sport lovers out there, this season add a sporty twist to your outfits.

9. Flats, low Heels and white heels: Revenge of the flats this season. Move over high heels, flats and low heels are marking a comeback. Designer Marc Jacob, Peter Som runway show emphasized comfortable metallic embellished flat and low heel footwear .Having said that, white high heels are making a comeback this spring.

10. Colors for spring : Pantone color prediction for spring 2013 is blue, emerald, lemon zest and red. Few muted colors such as violet, jade , coral will make a come back this season. In my opinion, the colors to look out for :- every shade of blue , yellow, emerald and of course black and white.

Well the best part about most trends this season is, it won't drill a hole in your pocket. I will be doing a closet remix series, how you can incorporate most trends re styling with your existing wardrobe.

Keeping the trends in mind, I layered my polka dot shirt with a royal blue shirt. Paired yellow skirt and completed the look with green bag and Zara heels. Silver revolution is on the way, this spring marks the entry of silver accessories. I completed the look with silver rings and silver, black bracelets. I suggest go without the belt, or a thin belt for this outfit. Since I have put on weight, I wanted to cover the bulges of the sides and hence opted for a big belt. I kept the make up minimum.

Do let me know what you think about the styling. I will wait for all your comments.

P.S. Few notes via glamour.com, harper's bazaar, NY Times, Fab Sugar and Pantone.
