Instagram Diaries - Malaysia Day 2

I am back with Day 2 of my Malaysia trip. First half of the day I spent shopping and roaming around Bintang Walk, central KL’s main shopping and entertainment district. Bintang Walk consists of many worthy malls to pay visit. My first stop was Bukit Bintang Plaza, Sungei Wang Plaza and Low Yat Plaza (known for gadgets). The three plazas together form the Golden penchant triangle. The path to the plazas is filled with local food vendors cooking an array of seafood options and tropical fruits. If you manage to take a walk early morning you get to see local vendors preparing for a hectic day ahead.

After speaking to few locals, Sungei plaza turned out as one of the cheapest places for retail therapy and foot massage therapy. Every floor has a plethora of hair salons and nail salons providing great service at affordable prices. I spent an hour visiting local designer shops, understanding about places to visit nearby and of course getting my nails done. I also managed to take appointment for hair setting in the afternoon. I had to leave for TOP Corporate Ball around four in the evening.

Connecting the malls to the main boulevard is Fiesta Street, which is a new sidewalk with a selection of restaurants that serve Italian, American, Chinese, South African and Asian fare. In typical mall fashion, fast food outlets are in abundance within the complex. Most places serve only non- veg, being a vegetarian my food choices were very limited and scantily available. Of course, Starbucks came to my rescue. I managed to have some hot chocolate and enjoyed the view of different version of KL Shopping street.

Berjaya Times Square is one of the biggest shopping centres within Bukit Bintang. It is one of the city centre’s most easily located structures. In the same lane the first H&M Store of Malaysia is located. I have never got a chance to shop in H&M before. I made best use of the opportunity and spent hours shopping in the store, trying on clothes and finally walking out with few formal blazers (H&M Blazers have great fit, I had a hard time choosing!) and leather skirt. I did manage to see few of ISABEL MARANT designs for H&M (honest opinion : quiet disappointed by the collection. I expected more options and affordable prices). The biggest attraction about the store was its unique display and the billboard. If you are ever in Malaysia do not forget to visit H&M Store.

After my shopping spree, I was off to get ready for award night. More about the award and ceremony in the next post.
