Spring Make up Ideas - Part 1

It's spring! After doing various posts on styling, DIY, interviews I decided to pen down a blog post about every day make up ideas for spring. Let's face it, it requires about an army of make up artists and stylist to make a model look fresh faced for a photo shoot. Neither we have a parade of make up artists nor hours of time to spare! I manage to scrub in 15 to 30 minutes for my daily routine and make up ritual. Here are a few makeup ideas you can try this spring and the products I use to achieve the same.

1. GLOWING SKIN : I know, sounds cliche right? Well I think this is one trend which will never change be it any season. Contrary to popular belief, it is actually easy to achieve.

GLOWING SKIN WITHOUT FOUNDATION: Start with moisturizing your skin, apply a primer with a sheer glow. Wait for the primer to set in (I usually give 5 minutes for the primer to set in). After which conceal your marks using concealer of choice. Add a bit of highlighter to cheeks, brow bones and down the nose. I usually add a light foundation to ensure most of the blemishes are not seen. I let the make up settle for few minutes, then I complete the make up by applying compact powder. If you are a bronzer/ blush person then top it up with bit of blush /bronzer. I am not a fan of blush nor bronzer. I just like to achieve even and clear skin tone.

Products I use :
1. Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base.
2. Chanel Eclat Lumiere Highlighter Face pen.
3. Yves Rocher Flawless Finish Corrector - Shade 300 Medium.
4. Yves Rocher Flawless Finish Corrector - Shade 400 Matt.
5. Yves Rocher Foundation.( Flawless Finish fluid foundation)
6. Yves Rocher Compact powder.

GLOWING SKIN WITH FOUNDATION:

Start with moisturizing your skin. Apply ample amount of moisturizer to avoid dry skin. Wait for the moisturizer to set in (usually takes 2 to 3 minutes). Apply flawless finish fluid foundation uniformly. Let the foundation set in (usually takes 5 minutes) Conceal your marks using concealer of choice. Conceal dark circle (if any) using a darker shade of Corrector. Usually people use a lighter shade of corrector for covering dark circle, but I feel it looks very unnatural. After the make up settles for few minutes, complete by applying compact powder.

Products I use :
3. Yves Rocher Flawless Finish Corrector - Shade 300 Medium.
4. Yves Rocher Flawless Finish Corrector - Shade 400 Matt.
5. Yves Rocher Foundation.( Flawless Finish fluid foundation)
6. Yves Rocher Compact powder.

2. BRIGHT ORANGE LIPS :Well, I always loved incorporating Fashion week trends. Orange was the lipstick shade of the season. Designers such as Nanette Lepore, Donna Karan, Prabal Gurung, Christian Siriano, Rag & Bone, and DKNY opted for various hues of orange.

This is one trend I cannot get enough of! I start with moisturizing the lips using lip balm. If you want a complete matt effect, then I suggest opt for a lip balm which does not leave behind a bit of shimmer. My favorite is Cocoa butter lip care stick. It doesn't leave behind shimmer and keeps my lips moisturized for hours. I know you can use tissue paper or blotting paper to remove the shimmer for other lip balms, but every time I try that trick, the lips become dry soon and the lipstick starts to crack so I prefer option one.

Another trick to get matte finish is to add a bit of foundation (very light just to remove the shimmer) on the lips after moisturizing. Use a lip liner to outline your lips (I usually skip this step). Apply lipstick directly or using a brush. Use tissue paper to remove excess of lip stain.

Products I use :

1. Cocoa Butter Lip care stick from Body Shop / Maybelline baby lips / Lotus raspberry lip balm : These are my three favorite lip balms.
2. Shades of orange : Chanel Rouge Allure 96 Excentrique / Revlon color burst Tutti Frutti

Sunday Brunch - Cafe Noir

::OUTFIT DETAILS : HERE ::

I know I have been away for a long time! Excusez-moi my utter laziness. Past couple of weeks I am taking a break from blog work and visiting my relatives and relaxing (who am I kidding, I mean hibernating, no jokes! I literally have been sleeping for 35 - 40 hours out of the 48 hour weekend). It was one of my new year resolution to start this year rejuvenating myself. Now I am bored with relaxing! I hate sitting idle and not working. I find the day boring if I am not working like a maniac. Nevertheless, I have a bucket load of backlog posts. Starting this week with a blog post about my favorite place for Sunday brunch, Cafe Noir.

Tucked away on the fourth floor of Orion mall, Cafe Noir enchants people with its authentic French café aura. For few fleeting hours, Cafe Noir transports you to the streets of France for a French café experience. The ambience of this place is one of the main reason I keep going back to Cafe Noir to start my Sunday morning. The grey walls, simple chairs and dim lighting bathe your senses with "I am home" sort of feeling. My staple Sunday morning involves ordering freshly made waffles with chocolate sauce and writing blog posts.

The "menu du jour" comprises of quintessential French dishes such as salads, pizzas, pastas and sandwiches. They have a separate menu for desserts (must say my favorite menu) which is filled with exotic varieties of tarts, crepes and pies. Cafe Noir has many great combo offers which are value for money. I ordered one of the combo meals. It consisted of Salad, pizza and lime soda for just Rs.400! The food is good enough to serve two people.

My "l'expérience française" started with Caesar salad. The simple presentation and a spoon of chocolate sauce makes the salad a must try. The classic Caesar salad dressing consists of olive oil based vinaigrette with raw eggs. Most restaurants now substitute raw eggs with mayonnaise. I am not a huge fan of mayonnaise and therefore just opted for a simple olive oil based vinaigrette dressing. The crusty Italian bread with gratings of Parmesan cheese makes it a mouth watering delight.

For my main course, it was fresh vegetable pizza. The moment I saw the pizza on the table, I was transported to food heaven. The smell and colors make the pizza a great visual treat let alone being a gustatory bonanza. I highly recommend all of you to try pizza in Cafe Noir. I normally do not enjoy tomatoes as a pizza topping, but sun dried tomatoes are an exception. If you are a pizza lover like me, then the main course is a relishing experience which leaves you wanting more!

Finally, this blog post is an ode to the "Cafe Noir waffles" which inspired me to write so many blog post. I strongly suggest waffles with chocolate sauce without cream or ice cream. The ice cream is overkill and definitely ruins the waffle experience. By far my only problem with Cafe Noir has been its hospitality. The waiters are not that friendly. One has to wait for at least 20 minutes to place order. If you move past that shortcoming, Cafe Noir is a must visit culinary stop. Next time any one of you is at Cafe Noir, do tweet me your experience.

OVERALL RATING :4
FOOD:4
AMBIENCE: 4.5
PRICE:4
HOSPITALITY: 3
VALUE FOR MONEY: Cost for two is about Rs. 1000
ADDRESS: Orion mall, UB City and Whitefield

A big shout out to a new website I discovered recently called "FOODPANDA.IN". If you enjoy dining in and are as utterly lazy as I am then this is a website for you. I always found it challenging to find restaurants which offer home delivery service. Even if you manage to find one near your locality after hours of searching on the internet, no website provides you the minimum delivery cost. Foodpanda website not only provides customize search for restaurants which offer home delivery, but also provides information about the minimum amount one needs to order. For any home delivery queries and restaurant I suggest checking out foodpanda.in
